The Sewanhaka Central High School District art department proudly announced that 68 of its talented student-artists are participating in the Dual Enrollment Art Program at Nassau Community College. The district is especially proud to be the first, and currently the only, high school district to partner with Nassau Community College in offering this Dual Enrollment Art Program. As part of this distinction, each participating student displayed a piece of their artwork in a special exhibition highlighting our Dual Enrollment Drawing and Painting students.
The showcase, which was on display from April 20- May 1, celebrated the artistic achievements and dedication of participating students. This recognition underscores the district’s commitment to fostering creativity and providing students with opportunities to engage in college-level coursework while still in high school.
On April 29, students and their families were invited to attend a special reception held at Nassau Community College’s Art Department. The event offered attendees the opportunity to view the exhibition, meet faculty and staff, and gain deeper insight into the college’s art programs. During the reception, families connected with Art Department Chairperson Izolda Maksym, art faculty member Elizabeth Kisseleff, and admissions representative Thomas O'Beirne. Guests also participated in a guided tour of the college’s art facilities and learned about future academic pathways in the visual arts.
The district extends its congratulations to all students whose work was selected and thanks Nassau Community College for its continued partnership in supporting young artists through innovative programs like dual enrollment. The Sewanhaka CHSD art department is so proud of all our participating student-artists!
