Students from across the Sewanhaka Central High School District brought the magic of musical theater to the stage through the district’s continued partnership with local theater company Plaza Theatrical. After auditioning in June, students from all five schools began rehearsals for this year’s production of “Pippin,” which was performed July 16-17 at the Elmont Public Library Theatre. The program welcomed aspiring performers entering ninth grade through graduating seniors, providing them with the opportunity to develop their talents while collaborating on a full-scale musical production.

“Pippin” follows a young prince on his journey to discover purpose and fulfillment, featuring beloved songs such as “Magic to Do,” “Corner of the Sky,” “No Time at All” and “Morning Glow,” as well as Bob Fosse’s iconic choreography.

The district’s partnership with Plaza Theatrical will continue this fall as middle school students take the stage in a production of “Shrek Jr.,” providing another opportunity for young performers to showcase their talents and passion for the arts.
