The district partnered with Northwell Health to host its inaugural Health Career Day on Oct. 16, providing students with an immersive opportunity to explore a wide range of careers in the healthcare industry.
Designed to inspire and inform students interested in healthcare, medicine, research and both clinical and non-clinical professions, the event highlighted the district's commitment to Career and Technical Education and work-based learning opportunities.
More than 50 Northwell Health representatives participated in the event, engaging students through 24 interactive and informational stations featuring demonstrations, activities and career exploration experiences. Students spoke directly with healthcare professionals from a variety of specialties, learning about their career journeys, daily responsibilities, educational requirements and the skills needed to succeed in the field. These conversations helped students better understand the diverse opportunities available throughout the industry, from direct patient care and medical research to emerging healthcare technologies and support services.
The event also showcased authentic workplace experiences through student involvement. CTE Medical Assisting students helped with event operations and logistics throughout the day, while CTE Culinary Arts students prepared and served refreshments for attendees.
The event reflects the district's ongoing commitment to providing students with real-world learning experiences and meaningful connections with industry professionals, helping prepare them for success in college, careers and beyond.
