H. Frank Carey High School is pleased to announce that Amelia Kalamaras and Enrik Myftaraj are the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of the Class of 2027.

Amelia is an exceptional student who exemplifies academic excellence, leadership and the spirit of the Seahawk community. Consistently challenging herself through a rigorous course load, she has earned recognition as an AP Scholar with Distinction and an AP Capstone Diploma. Her diverse interests in academics, athletics, the arts and service have allowed her to make a meaningful impact throughout the school community. A dedicated leader, she serves as captain of the varsity soccer team, president of the Animal Alert Club, president and co-founder of the Morgan’s Message Club, vice president of Student Government and a representative on the Class of 2027 Board. An accomplished athlete, she has earned All-Conference honors in basketball, All-County recognition in soccer, and was named Conference Player of the Year. She has also been part of championship teams and earned distinction as a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete. Beyond athletics, she is a talented artist whose work has been selected for exhibition in the GO APE exhibit at the Art League of Long Island, and she was recognized as an LI Best nominee by the Heckscher Museum of Art. Passionate about animal welfare, she also serves as a participant in the North Shore Animal League’s Mutt-I-Grees Global Ambassador program.

“What makes Amelia so special goes far beyond her academic prowess and the classroom,” Principal Jennifer Alaimo said. “She has shown us that true leadership is not only about achieving for herself but lifting others up around her. She represents the very best of H. Frank Carey.”

Enrik is highly regarded for balancing outstanding academic achievement with a strong commitment to service and leadership. His success academically is reflected in his recognition as a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist and an AP Scholar with Distinction. A dedicated scholar, he is a member of numerous honor societies, including the National Honor Society, Business Honor Society, English Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Social Studies Honor Society and World Language Honor Society. This past summer, he further expanded his academic pursuits through participation in the Columbia University Pre-College Summer Program. Beyond academics, he is an active leader within the school community, serving as president of Student Government, a member of the Class of 2027 Board and a member of the Future Business Leaders of America. He is also committed to supporting his peers, volunteering his time to tutor fellow students and help them achieve academic success.
