New Deputy Superintendent

Good Afternoon Everyone,

At the Board of Education meeting on March 22, 2022, the Board of Education announced that Ms. Regina Agrusa would become Deputy Superintendent, effective immediately.

Ms. Agrusa came to the district in 1997 as a school counselor at Elmont Memorial High School.  In 1999, she was named pupil personnel chairperson at the school, supervising student support services.  She also served as the varsity lacrosse coach, earning coach of the year honors during the 2003 conference championship season.  In 2004, Ms. Agrusa was promoted to district director of pupil personnel services where her responsibilities included the supervision of all district PPS staff.  In 2013, she was named Assistant Superintendent.  In this role, she is responsible for student support services and special education instruction and programs.

Ms. Agrusa is the recipient of the Sewanhaka Central High School District PTA Lifetime Membership Award, the 2006 Phi Delta Kappa Friends of Education award sponsored by Molloy College, the 2011 Academy for Character Education Leadership Award from Sage College in Albany, the Nassau Counselor’s Association Administrator of the Year Award in 2014, and the SCOPE Administrator Service Award in March, 2018.

As Deputy Superintendent, Ms. Agrusa will assist my office with special projects, the re-organization of the central office administrative team and be Acting Superintendent in my absence from the district.

Please join me in congratulating Regina on this well-deserved promotion.  Her expertise and leadership will greatly assist the district in our educational mission for all our students.  I have every confidence in her continued success in our district.
