H. Frank Carey High school junior Caroline Gilman received the SHIELD (Service, Honesty, Integrity, Leadership and Duty) Award from the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office

Caroline was recognized for her strength of character, commitment to self-growth and her initiative to bring about a positive change for her community. She volunteers at her local elementary school to help teach a robotics program, tutors fellow students in need and tutors adult English language learners in her community. Caroline also created and coached a Lego Club for middle school students during the pandemic.
